Project Manager (previously posted as the Business Analyst)

Diversified Business Communications is looking for a talented and dedicated individual to join our Project Management Office as a Project Manager.  This role will be responsible for managing projects in support of business and technology initiatives.  A qualified candidate will have experience using proven project management methodologies to ensure time, scope and cost objectives are successfully achieved.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive projects from conception to completion, managing all aspects including: scope definition, timeline planning, resource allocation, budget management, change control, risk management and communication.
  • Use proven project management methodologies to ensure that time, scope and cost objectives are successfully achieved.
  • Partner with business units and technical teams to develop project plans and define strategy, timeline, scope, resource requirements, cost requirements and areas of risk.
  • Act as a liaison to the business, translating project goals and objectives to technical plans, requirements and process changes.
  • Champion a culture of change to ensure business impacts are well defined, understood and embraced.
  • Manage change to project scope through accepted change control processes.
  • Monitor and report on project quality to management, stakeholders and sponsors, keeping all informed of the status and aware of changes in a timely manner.
  • Balance competing priorities and resource conflicts to achieve goals and objectives across multiple projects.
  • Identify project risks and manage effectively ensuring that that the correct approach or mitigation strategy is in place based on the situation.
  • Ensure that roles, responsibilities, deadlines, objectives and expectations are understood by all project team members and stakeholders. 
  • Influence without direct authority and gain support needed to effectively lead technology and business team members.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience managing enterprise level business and technology projects, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply project management methodologies to effectively drive multiple projects to completion.
  • Significant experience building project plans, timelines, work structures, risk mitigation strategies, scope management reports, communication plans and change management plans.
  • Experience managing several project teams simultaneously and influencing without direct authority.
  • Ability to create effective written materials including: communication plans, status reports, presentations, schedules, resource utilization models, task lists, analytical diagrams and charts.
  • Exposure to gathering and documenting business requirements, reviewing solutions, analyzing business processes and systems.
  • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources to translate them into well organized, detailed requirements or business rules.
  • Effective problem solving and risk management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong MS Project background preferred, experience with Team Foundation Server, Project Server and SharePoint a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.



Sales Trainee

Diversified Business Communications is looking for a Sales Trainee to join our team of seasoned professionals. Director of Customer Insights & Analytics

Diversified Business Communications seeks a results-driven individual as the Director of Customer Insights and Analytics team. The position is a critical team leadership role within Diversified that helps to set strategic direction through data and market research insights. The successful candidate will have proven experience providing strategic thought leadership and influencing business leaders to implement marketing strategies based upon data-driven insights.

The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, poised for success and analytically creative. You are a master at prioritization and thrive in a fast paced changing environment that allows for a strong sense of ownership and accountability over your own work and that of your team.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead team in providing innovative, results-oriented marketing strategies that are flawlessly executed and drive customer solutions through marketing analytics and market research
  • Play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of key strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Lead expansive and evolutionary growth by  performing both strategic and directed analysis and market research in order to achieve brand KPIs, optimize marketing spend, target the appropriate promotion to the right customers at the right time and generate new program ideas across the customer's lifecycle.
  • Leverage marketing analytics information to gauge effectiveness of current campaigns and to make strategic adjustments for future planning.
  • Ability to make judgment calls and share/deliver difficult messages
  • Ability to serve as a thought leader with strong influencing capabilities while maintaining transparency
  • Ability to work closely with the IT team, eMedia, and Marketing/Sales departments
  • Must be able to maintain partnerships with senior and business managers to ensure strategy alignment.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the information architecture, including campaign management and analytics platform.  Work with team to further develop information capabilities.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-12 years of experience performing and leading marketing analytics in a direct marketing environment.
  • Must be an experienced leader, manager and coach
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to marketing staff.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and gaining buy-in of C-level executives
  • Proven ability to set strategic direction and priorities in a constantly changing environment
  • Proven quantitative and analytic capabilities
  • Strong understanding of web analytics
  • Experience in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Quantitative background in a marketing environment or similar skills in strategic business management.
  • Experience in multi-channel analytics and lead scoring
  • Working knowledge of Alterian Campaign Management & Analytics suite (or other business intelligence/data modeling tools)
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data mining tools, such as SSRS and SSAS
  • Experienced in querying and analyzing large data sets using SQL based tools and data mining software
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, specifically working knowledge of concepts such as clustering, segmentation and time series (i.e. regression, forecasting)



Editor

Diversified Communications, a Portland-based international trade show and trade magazine company, is seeking an Editor to join our growing company. This position is central to the creation, usage and repurposing of content for our product websites (SPAR). Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential and a high interest in online media is critical. Ideal candidate would also have a demonstrated work experience (editorial/reporting) in science, engineering, manufacturing and technology.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Researching, developing, writing, editing and proofing original and repurposed content
  • Overseeing freelance contributors
  • Generating ideas for content
  • Proofreading and editing content
  • Providing ongoing updates to content
  • Manages relations with peer industry editors and publishers

We are looking for a motivated and deadline-driven candidate who has 2-4 years of experience editing and writing for B2B or B2C magazines and/or websites. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism or English preferred. Understanding of various multi-media resources (video, audio, slideshows, flash, podcasting, basic HTML), writing for the web, familiarity with Twitter and LinkedIn, familiarity with content management applications and procedures a must.
