Application Support Specialist

Application Support Specialist

The Application Support Specialist role is to test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers, such as operations, development, and other business units. The Application Support Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications, training programs and related courseware.

Position requires skills in communicating effectively, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to shift focus based on changing priorities. Technical skills desired include SQL Server, SQL, IIS administration and an understanding of internet programming languages, which may include SHTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, ASP, .NET.

Web Technology Architect
Full Time

The Web Technology Architect works closely with our Business Units and the E-media Product Development Team to construct and deliver our online products. In collaboration with our Information Architect, Creative Design Team and IT System Architect, the Web Technical Architect finds, evaluates & implements web technologies to meet our product needs while ensuring our technical approach is consistent with our overall IT strategy. This role sets e-media technology strategy and oversees development, delivery as well as maintenance of our e-media technology solutions via internal/external development resources.

Responsibilities

· Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in Web architecture, development and delivery.

· Prepare and deliver long-term strategic plan for Web development, including standards and guidelines for technical design, based on business goals.

· Evaluate new Web features and applications in conjunction with eMedia & Design teams.

· Select and implement applicable hardware, software, platforms, publishing tools, and programming languages for the development of Web architecture.

· Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for all users in conjunction with Design Team.

· Development of technical specifications;

· Technical design & code reviews;

· Prototype Development;

· Selection and ongoing management of sourcing vendors.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

· College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or Web design/development and/or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge & Experience

· Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements in order to meet strategic goals and development efforts.

· Knowledge of Web platforms, technologies, protocols, and publishing tools including AJAX.

· Advanced understanding of object-oriented programming languages, including VB.NET and C#.

· Hands-on experience with Web-database integration and a range of relational database platforms, including SQL Server with an emphasis on stored procedures and T-SQL.

· Working knowledge of Web servers and application servers, including IIS and domain management.

· Knowledge of Web authoring and development tools, including Ektron CMS and Sharepoint is a plus.

· Experience with e-commerce, intranet, and extranet development.

· Project management/project lifecycle/project methodology skills required.
